I was recently listening to the radio on my car ride home from school and one commercial caught my attention. It was fro the Reebok easy tone with balance ball inspired technology, whatever that meant. According to the commercial it would tone by legs and butt up to 13% more then any other shoe. I become really excited at the though of just being able to work and tone my legs and butt 13% more, without much work or effort! When I got the chance later that day I did more research on these "magical" shoes and I was surprised at what I found. All the commercials for these shoes only showed women in booty shorts wearing the shoes. Literally the commercials were of women legs and bootys. No faces nor upper bodies were ever shown. I was surprised at this marketing campaign because I found it very degrading, like a women's worth is measured hips down. But I do see why it could be a great to sell shoes. The women (legs and bootys) in the ads were in shape. So women would get the since that these shoes will create a tone butt and legs. I also found that the price range for these shoes is between 95-125 dollars. These shoes have the potential of making alot of money for the company by exploiting the concepts of beauty.
